Dog Wining

Our 15-year old dog has begun to wine a lot at night. Any time you tocuh her she wines. Not a wine out of pain but a kind of under her breath growl. She is keeping us up at night and wonder what may be the cause. We have given her kaopectate and that has not helped.

Hi Lester and Patricia!You should really take her to the veterinarian for an examination and blood tests and possible x-rays. This may just be a behavior change due to age and cognitive dysfunction (doggie alzheimers) or from a serious underlying medical problem such as kidney or liver disease or heart disase, etc. It is hard to say for sure without doing some diagnostic testing.
