lock jaw

Question
Is lock jaw on dogs for real or is it a myth?  Specifically Bull Terriers.

Certain dogs can get an inflammatory condition of the jaw muscles which causes extreme pain on opening of the jaw... This is called masticatory muscle myositis.  The most common breeds are German shepherds, Labrador retrievers, Doberman pinschers, Golden Retrievers, and Cavalier King Charles spaniels.
