Question
QUESTION: my pit is 4 and a half months old has parvo syptoms, but has the same syptoms as when he had some kind of worms when he was younger. can't remember what kind. has had only first shots

ANSWER: Parvo has pretty recognizable symptoms: vomiting, bloody diarrhea that smells like dead blood and weakness. Pit bulls are highly susceptible to this virus. Having one vaccination might insure he survives but only if he gets some veterinary help soon.

Call your vet asap.

QUESTION: took him to vet got medicine cause it was parvo woke up a blood in urine. etc but now he still cant barly keep anything down and there is blood clots in his puke. is it basicly over?

Answer
Parvo causes the intestines to die off and be passed out of the rectum with a lot of blood. There would not be blood in his urine unless his bladder was affected somehow.
You might be seeing very runny, blood-tinged clear diarrhea still. Don't try feeding him yet, but get some Gatoraide and give him that every 15 minutes. Just try and get about 1/4 of a cup into him 4 times an hour. You can try baby food but his intestines are not healed enough to eat yet.

Since he is almost 5 months old he should be okay without eating for another 24 hours or so. Keep the fluids and medicines in him however.

The blood in his stomach is coming from the virus and from broken vessels from the vomiting. It's not over until he is not vomiting, has no more diarrhea and is starting to eat. This virus will live in your house and on everything you have touched and your clothes and rugs, etc for over 6 months. It is very hard to kill. Do NOT bring any other dogs or puppies into your house or let people with dogs come over until you have cleaned and bleached everything that you can bleach safely.

It is a very hardy virus and loves to travel on your shoes, car tires and in the air.
