Question
I have a four month old kitten who is very skinny and refuses to eat any cat food...dry or can.  She will eat fresh raw fish, as we live on the lake and found out she liked that. SO I tried fish flavors of can and dry...she will not eat.  I tried can tuna. again no.  She will eat cheatoes and potato chips and some noodles.  She will drink milk but too much gives her the runs. I have not tried the expensive brand foods.  Do you have any suggestions on food with her fish and chips mentalities

Answer
Picky cats are made by owners feeding things the cat likes, not what the cat needs. You will have a very sick and weak cat pretty soon if you keep feeding her as you are.

I would stop ALL the junk you are feeding her, including the raw fish, and get her some Science Diet Kitten Growth. Then you take up any thing else on the floor and let her have that only. She will eat it if she is hungry but YOU must not give in to her little cries of NO I won't eat this.
In my 28 yrs as a vet tech I never met a cat that wouldn't eat this food once the owner wasn't there to give in to it. So I know she will eat it-but you must be firm.

You are building a cat that can last 15 yrs or more if you build her correctly. They are like a house. If you build a shaky foundation made of sand and straw, how well will this house stand and for how long?
The saying we are what we eat is every so true for us and even more for animals.

You will see a change in her in three weeks once you get her on this food. She had to be eating some kind of cat food before you got her?
Milk is the last thing she needs as all cats lose the ability to digest milk once they are weaned and they should never have cow's milk at all.

Get her some canned Kitten Growth also and you can mix that into the dry or give it straight as a supplement to the dry-but leave the dry out in a bowl for her. Start with a half a cup and leave it down.
You will find her eating it soon. Give her a day or so. She can go two without eating but on day three you may have to shovel the canned into her mouth slowly and kick in her appetite reflex. Little bits in the corner of her mouth will get her started.

DO NOT under any pleas, cries, begs, whines or meows give in to her wanting ANY other food. If you are strong and do this, you will be rewarded with a long-lived and healthy cat.
If you don't, she won't last long as cats are obligate carnivores and need taurine to survive and none of the food you are feeding her has a drop of it in it.
If you have any more questions about nutrition or her, let me know.

Please let me know how she does on the food.
Science Diet Kitten Growth. You can get it at the feed stores, pet stores or a vet that carries it. Where you take her for her vaccinations should have it.
She also needs to be wormed regularly and soon!
