Question
My pug (4 years old )began throwing up a few months ago and after going to the vet and getting blood drawn and looking at X-Rays (all fine) the vet put us on a special
Iams diet food. This has reduced the vomitting significantly - it only happens about one time a week now.  However, we recently a small red sore on her belly.  It does have a little puss that hardens on the edges of it and it is the size of a penny. When it goes away within a few days a new one arrives.  Any ideas?

Answer
Your pug may have a superficial pyoderma which requires antibiotics and medicated shampoo. Your vet should be able to treat this pretty easily.

With regard to the vomiting: While once a week vomiting sounds better than before I suggest that this is still not normal and you may be able to get further improvement with more diet modification. Perhaps you could tal to your vet about prescribing a hypoallergenic diet such as Hills z/d or one of the Royal Canin limited antigen diets? I suspect that your dog may have a food allergy with mild Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Using one of these diets may help eliminate the vomiting all together. If not, you should consider endoscopy and biopsies as your Pug may have IBD that requires medication and not just diet change.
