Ticks? Unknown

Question
I have recently found 4 small black bugs on my son and one on myself. They are the size of seseme seed or smaller, black and latch to you but not as hard as a tick would. Easy to get them off. Burry there head in the pore and when smashed pop with blood. The leg are underneath the body and almost invisible unlike a common tick and it dosen't jump like a flea. I am also being bit during the day quite often and the small red spot itches really bad. Have only seen the insect those 2 times. Is there a chance that this is a type of tick and could be biting me this often w/o ever seeing it? I get several new bites daily. Thanks so much if you can help me. I have done a lot of research and I just don't know what I'm dealing with and need some help! Thanks!

Answer
These sound like sticktight fleas, not ticks. A tick's legs are on the sides of a flat body, not underneath them. You should take one to your doctor and show him. But anything that bites you several times a day is most likely fleas.

Sticktight fleas do bite and hold on. Cats and dogs regularly get them on their ears, foreheads etc. but they can be a pest for humans too.
