Question
Hi, I feed my 6 month old, active female kitten 1 (5.5 ounce) can of Innova Cat Food a day, half in the morning and half at night. I also feed her a little less than a quarter cup of Dry Innova Cat food per day. Is this ok for her? when should i reduce the amount and by how much?

Answer
The amount you are feeding is fine, but I worry about feeding Innova because I found some extremely high amounts of protein in the bags I evaluated. For a growing kitten that isn't so bad but when she reaches a year old watch the amount she gets.
Protein has been under suspicion for years in promoting kidney problems in cats in their later years.
I have fed and recommend Science Diet Kitten growth for over 30 yrs because I have seen what it does from 'cradle to grave' and it promoted ages way past the average in my pets and our clients pets also.
I have studied their foods for years and since they have over 50 yrs of research behind their foods as well as feeding trials to back it up, I feel very comfortable recommending it.
It's just a suggestion for you. The amount you feed over time is less and less since it is so digestible that it meets a kitten's and adult cat's energy needs with very little food intake. This saves you money.Their stool is also very small because of this digestibility and since I have a litter box for my daughter's cat, I appreciate that aspect of it a lot!
My cats have very soft and shiny coats too so that is a big plus.
Give it a try and if you don't like it after a 4.5 lb bag take it back for a full refund. It's 100% guaranteed.
Take care and have fun with your kitten!
