6 week old kitten

Question
I just got a 6 week old kitten, and I was wondering about a few things.  She is still drinking from a bottle, how do I wean her?  She hasnt pooped since we got her, is that normal, or should she be pooping after every meal?  Also her belly is really fat and round, does that mean she has worms or are kittens bellies like that?

Answer
You should take her to the veterinarian for an examination, deworming, first set of vaccines and a feline leukemia test.  At 6 weeks she should be able to eat some baby rice mixed with meat baby food, or canned kitten food that is watered down.  The round belly is most likely due to roundworms, but it is best to have her checked out to be sure.  As far as no BMs, I would recommend that you take a wet, warm washcloth and rub her backside to stimulate her to go to the bathroom.
