litterbox aversion

Question
My mother has a cat that is about 4 years old, but is extremeny overweight (over 30 pounds)named Toonces.  She has made a habit of not using the litterbox at all, opting instead for the floor.  This has become unbearable for my mother to deal with, and she is contemplating having her put to sleep - something I would have difficulty accepting, as I'm sure there is a solution somewhere.  I fear it's because of Toonces' weight, but the Vet keeps telling my mom that cats cannot be put on diets.  I would appreciate your guidance.

Thank you,
Billi

Answer
Hi there!

your mother is being irresponsible. For a cat to that obese is  sad, she is killing it with her weight. The cat needs to see a vet for an RX diet to get this weight ofF!  She isnt using the box due to not fitting in it, able to get in it or it is not clean enough.

Time to intervine, get that cat some help. Find a new vet, the one you are seeing is VERY incorrect.
