possible pregnant cat

Question
My baby Chloe has been acting strange and I am concerned about her.  She is a long haired cat that cycles frequently and has not cycled lately and has had a couple incidences lately with vomiting hairballs.  Today I noticed that her tummy is firm and large, to be blunt she is quite fat and has been much more lovable than usual.  I did have a tom that broke in thru my screen door about a month ago, but I didnt think he was in long. I am wondering if she may be pregnant or if she could be bound up with fur. She does eat a hairball diet. She seems to be be eliminating fine and is eating like a little piggie.  She seems to be sleeping more than usual too. I think I already know the answer but would like a professional opinion before I start breaking out the cigars.

Answer
Hi Lynda! I think it may be time to break out the cigars!  Your kitty is definately exhibiting signs of pregnancy, although the only way to be absolutely positive would be a physical veterinary examination by your veterinarian. I would suggest to have her checked to be sure that she is in good health and to be sure that everything is going well with her pregnancy.  Your veterinarian will also be able to give you vitamin supplements to give her a bit more energy and also will be able to tell you approximately how many kittens are to be expected!
Congratulations! Let me know how she does and give that mommy to be some kisses for me,
Hilary
