QuestionMy mini schnauzer is one year old and his nose is losing its pigment with sores. The sores appeared about a week ago and they are multiplying. The sores are leaving his nose white with red blemishes inside the white areas. There is also some discharge coming from the sores. I am concerned. Please respond.
AnswerAnytime there is depigmentation, it means that there is a deep problem. Two common diseases causing depigmentation are pemphigus and discoid lupus. Neither of these diseases is easily treated. You should let your vet look at the dog and if necessary, do a skin biopsy to find out just what this disease is.
