min pin with a fever

Question
Hi. I have a 2 1/2 year old minature pinscher who has a 102 F under the arm before adding a degree.  She is shivering some too.  I think that she ate some tagalong girl scout cookies which is coated in chocolate.  Because we found an empty box in the kids floor while the kids were at school.  She has vomited four times today & seems to be better with that.  She is just laying around and feels really warm.  What can I give her to bring the fever down?  I'm gooing to give her a bath to see if it brings it down.  Should I take her to a vet in the morning when the office opens?  Is there anything else that I can do for her for now?  She weighs 15lbs.

Answer
A dog's normal temperature is 101.5 so she really doesn't have a fever as you cannot accurately take a dogs temp under their armpits. It's rectally or not.

I don't know what kind of chocolate is in that kind of gs cookie, but how many is some?

Usually a dog that eats cookies will vomit and have some diarrhea but to be safe I would call your vet's in the morning and tell them how many she ate and whether or not they are milk or dark chocolate.
Milk chocolate isn't as deadly because it is diluted.

You should do nothing since she really doesn't have a fever. Do not give her any pain meds either.
You can give her some pepto bismol for her stomach and feed her some rice to help push it all out, but otherwise wait until morning and call the vet.
