Pug - KD Prescription Diet

Hello, my pug is on the KD diet from the vet.  He is approx 2 years old and was diagnosed with kidney failure.  I have his blood tested every couple of months - this past time his CRE was 2.5 I think...but his BUN was normal.  He has had bad diarrhea ever since being on this food..is this a side effect of the food?  Thank you

If you put him on it abruptly that would certainly cause the diarrhea.
I would mix some boiled rice into it for a few days and then ease off the rice. K/D is a little higher in fat to make up for the loss of protein for the kidneys. K/D is a lower protein diet.

Two years old is very, very young to be having kidney failure. Did he get into something that started this or did his parents die young of kidney failure? That is just not normal for a two year old dog.
