Albino kitten

Question
Hello,

I found a albino kitten outside my home 2 days ago.  It is a male and I FEEL it is a ALBINO.  It is white all over except for it's ears and tale.  They are a peachy brown.  He has blue eyes and CAN hear things.

He is dong fine.  I don't know how old he is maybe about 2 months old?? (really unsure about the age).  I am feeding him IMAS kitten dry food and today he finally drank some water.  I keep him in a pet carrier with a towel and blanket.  I made a liter box out of those throw away silver foil baking sheets with liter in it, he has used it well.  At first he did sit in the messes, but now he is not.  I think he is getting stronger everyday.  He is very sweet and is always purring.  I don't know what it means though.....he is always moving his feet with the claws coming out and in like to squeeze a blanket or on my chest.  He does it when he eats too.  He was coated in FLEAS really really bad.  I did have to do a flea bath on him and he wears a flea collar and I did the liquid treatment at the back of his neck.  He eyes are runny as well.

I have a 1 year old kitten manx (Princess)and she does not like him at all.  She hisses and growls at him.  I don't know what to do?

I guess what I am asking you is ........IS all this OK.  Am I doing the right things?

I have not taken him to the vet....waiting to see if Princess will get use to him or not.

I know he was a stray....I don't know if he has any diseases...I have a 4 year neice that lives with me and she adores him more than her Princess.  Should I be worried about him with my neice if there is anything wrong with him??

Princess was a stray when we got her.  Her mom left her and we bottle feed her from when she was 4 days old.  Princess will bit and she scratches too.  I don't know what to do about her as well.

CAN YOU HELP ME??

Gratefully Yours,
Meleesa

Answer
Hi there!  You don't have an albino on your hands!  You have a siamese cat/siamese mix on your hands!  A chocolate point siamese from what you have described.  Lucky, lucky you!  I am a HUGE fan of siamese kitties...I have one myself!  They are excellent HIGHLY intelligent cats.  Weird thind is...I have a manx too!  We're living in a parallel universe! (hehehe)
I would definitely have a vet check him out, just to test for FIV, feline leukemia and intestinal parasites....and for some antibiotics as it sounds as though an upper respiratory infection is brewing (which is very common in kittens).  The only thing to be concerned of with your niece would be the intestinal parasites.  It is HIGHLY uncommon for people to get intestinal parasites from animals, unless the feces are eaten (ew!), but just to be safe, have her wash her hands after handling him.  She can safely play with him and hold him with no worries, so don't be concerned.
Your other cat will hiss and growl at him.  This is completely normal...believe me, I have 5 cats and have gone through this every time.  It could take a few days or even a few weeks.  They just need to squabble to decifer who the alpha cat is...have no worries.
It sounds as though you are doing all the right things for this kitten, and because he seems to be acting very healthy, I wouldn't be too concerned with him having FIV or feline leukemia at this point.  Getting him tested would be a great idea, but he is sounding like a healthy little guy, minus the slight respiratory infection, which will clear up within a few days after the antibiotics are given.
Just a word of advice...be careful with all over the counter flea medications and collars.  They are known to cause severe illness in animals like siezuring, paralysis and death.  The only safe product is Frontline, in which your veterinarian will sell.  I just have to warn becaues I see so many reactions.  Since you already put it on the kitten, you probably would have seen symptoms of a reaction already, so don't panic.  I just wanted to tell you for future reference.
Best of luck and give those kitties kisses for me!  They will be buddies before you know it!
Congrats on the new baby!
