Bleeding

Question
My little Yorkie had a C-Section 2 weeks ago today.  About a week ago I noticed her bleeding from her vagina.  It was just a little pinkish passing, not very bad.  I took her to the vet and he gave me some antibiotics yesterday, but I am still worried.  Today I went outside with her and sat on the porch while she went out in the yard.  She came back up on the porch and bowed up in the form of going to poop.  I told her no, and she went back out in the yard, but I noticed a spot of blood on the porch.  She stayed bowed up out in the yard for a couple of minutes, didn't poop, but I went and looked, there was blood on the ground, some on the hair on her leg and it was a brighter red than before.  Do you have any ideas?

Thanks,
Lynda

Answer
She is passing some sort of new blood and that means that there is a vessel or something open or bleeding slowly in the horns of her uterus. Post partum bleeding is usually pale as you said. If she had an infection it would be smelly, ropy and yellowish green. Since it is bright red I would be concerned about fresh bleeding.

I would say the vet needs to evaluate this. I wouldn't let this go if she is passing fresh blood like that.
