My dog Zen

Question
This morning we got up and Zen's left eye is swollen and he barely opens it.  What could it be from and what can I do for him at home?
He is an inside small dog.

Hi Elaine!

Although Zen is an inside dog, it is still possible for him to have something caught inside his eyelid, or an irritation which may have become infected.

Other things which can cause the eye to swell are ingrown eyelashes, glandular cysts and small tumors of the eyelid, prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid, and infection or irritation of the tear glands. There are also auto-immune disorders to consider.

I hope you see where I'm going with this. Until you know what your dog has, it would be impossible to try to treat him at home.

You need to make an appointment with your vet, before proceeding with a home remedy.
