Dog ate dark chocolate

Question
MY 30-35lb., 6 year old Cocker Spaniel got into a bag of Dove dark chocolate candies while I was in the other room (this just happened about 10-15 minutes minutes ago).  He ate the tin foil wrapping on them as well, all that was left was the bag they came in.  I had eaten a total of about two servings out of it.  The bag was 9.5 ounces total and had an estimated 7 servings in it, so I estimate that he ateaout 6-7 ounces of it.  I don't know if I should induce vommitting or not since I don't know what kind of harm the tin foil could do in this case if it came back up.  My vet was closed when I called.

Answer
The foil won't harm him, coming out or up. It might be a good idea to get some hydrogen peroxide down him and make him vomit this up because it is dark chocolate. I don't have the chart in front of me but he probably didn't eat enough to more than give him diarrhea, however, to be safe rather than sorry I would induce the vomiting. I would if it were my dog. I would use about a 1/2 cup of peroxide to make him vomit.

Then after he vomits give him water so he can finish vomiting the rest of the peroxide up. Don't feed him tonight because it may make him vomit as well.

Call your vet tomorrow if he isn't feeling well.
