Question
QUESTION: I have a 6 week old Siamese/Tabby and he is very fussy and cry's all the time. I am wondering if this is normal due to Siamese being talkative cats or if this is weird. He eats very well. Still bottle fed and started on wet kitten food. He is litter box train. He also seems very defensive when my other cat comes near him. When I say defensive I mean he will cry loudly, paw my other kittens face and roll on his back like he is in defensive mode....he just seems a but overly defensive a whinny. What do you think?

ANSWER: Siamese cats are always vocal. Even mixed Siamese generally are vocal.
This cat is way too old to be bottle fed anymore. He should have been on solid food by the time he was 5-6 weeks old. His mental state will be delayed by bottle feeding him this late. You need to cold turkey him and get him on solid dry food. Wet food is fine as long as it is a small amount and not all he eats.

Science Diet is the best food you can get him on. Get a bag of dry and cans of wet and leave out the dry and feed the wet food twice a day, just a spoonful. Leave off the bottle in then morning and feed him once at night for a few nights then stop it completely in three days.

He should be on just solid food.

The posturing you are describing is normal for a kitten who wants to play with the other cat. He isn't whining, just vocalizing to play. The falling down posture is one of submission which is normal for a kitten. It is not a defensive mode at all. Cats only expose their bellies to other cats or humans that they trust.

He is in complete submission when he does this. Just let him be and let them play.

QUESTION: Thanks for the advice, but he is actually about 5 weeks and I am only giving him the bottle one a day now and weening him off. I have tried the dry food, but he won't touch it so I am giving him a little wet food twice a day. My other cat is 6 months old and I was just afraid he may be scared of her.

Answer
You have to leave the food out for him but they always eat wet food first. I doubt if he is afraid of her. He just wants to play and he is letter her know it! You need to give him enough food to fill him up (about two ounces or less) so that he won't even want a bottle.

Sounds like you are on the right track!
