Is incense harmful to cats?

Hi.  I am planning on getting a cat sometime soon.  I burn incense in my apartment many times a week.  Anyway, I was just wondering if the fumes and smoke from incense is harmful to cats or not?

Hey Holly,

Incense is not harmful to most Cats. Please be aware that animals with asthma or other respiratory problems may be particularly sensitive to burning incense or smelly candles. When you adopt the animal ask the shelter if the animal have respiratory problems.

Also remember that cats can climb and that wagging tails or blowing draperies can knock over incense burners. Cats are always curious of their surroundings and they'll mess with anything.
