Dog Behavior-anxiety?

Question
My 4 year old English Springer Spaniel,Sarah, occassionally exhibits what I consider weird behavior at night. For the past year or so, she would occassionally "freak out" at night and wake my dad up by trying to climb on his deck and whine at his window. Figuring it was anxiety, we started giving her Kava Kava and it seemed to help. This last week, however, Sarah woke me up by essentially body-slamming herself against the wall trying to get in the window to my room. I petted her for a half hour till she seemed calm and went back to bed only to have her wake me up again a few hours later. I decided to sleep on the couch in the living room and was ok for the rest of the night. Last night, however, she began the same body slamming before I even fell asleep, so I switched to the living room figuring it worked the last time. But she followed me and began trying to jump to the window in the living room. I'm afraid she'll hurt herself by continuing the body-slamming, plus I like my sleep. Do you have any other suggestions besides the kava kava?

Answer
This may be a form of a seizure or some underlying medical problem and not just anxiety?  I would recommend taking her to the vet for some blood tests to make sure there are no underlying problems with her organs, electrolytes, calcium or blood sugar.

I would recommend the DAP/Comfort Zone Diffuser.  You may add RESCUE REMEDY to her water dish as well as give a few drops in her mouth before bed time to help with the anxiety.  Valerian Root may help, although you must be careful with herbs in pets as I do know there have been some reports of Kava kava causing liver problems in people and could affect animals as well.  You could also consider crating her at night.
