Question
HI, I have a 1 year old St. Bernard that has 1 testicle that is still up inside him, is this something to be worried about, can it cause any problems. thanks Ron

Answer
Retained testicles can cause problems of many sorts. For one thing, it can lead to aggression in some dogs. One of the most common problems with retained testicles is that they can become cancerous. They are usually misshapen, and thus not real viable as far as fertility goes but any dog with a retained testicle needs to be neutered because it is hereditary and not a desirable trait.
One year is long enough to wait for it to descend. It's time to get him neutered. He will be a happier dog.
