Boston Terrier bloody stool

Question
Our dog is 10 years old and just today she has a mix of brown diarrhea and bright red blood that seems to be seeping out when she tries to poop, nothing solid.  She gets a cup of food 2 times a day.  She is due for her yearly check up:  bordetella/parainfluenza, heartworm, E.canis, lymes, anapl, leptospirosis 4 serovars, annual physical exam.  She seems to be acting alright pretty down and is incredibly hyper.

Answer
She might have eaten something that upset her tummy and started this. Bright red blood comes from the lower colon area, which means that some blood vessels were ruptured when she had a bowel movement.

Something irritated the area, a new food, or something in her normal diet. If she continues to have the issue then you need to take her to see a vet, especially due to her age.

Otherwise it will probably clear up in 24 hours. Don't feed her treats, or table food- ever!

These are two of the leading reasons that dogs get diarrhea and have blood in their stool.

Feed her some boiled white rice (about 1/2 cup daily) to help settle her gut for a couple of days.

Thank you for being a responsible pet owner and having all the rest current!
