Lipoma?

Question
Ted is a 13 y/o yellow lab in great shape, still very active and healthy. On his chest under his left forepaw he's developed a largish tumor deemed benign. It's not painful. Vet said to leave it be and Ted was happy - he does NOT like going to the vet. In past months, however, it has grown from the size of an egg to a grapefruit, maybe larger. When he runs a lot, the skin on it bleeds a bit. It still doesn't give him pain although he's learned to lie on his right side. Question - is it time to go back to the vet or will I just hear the same thing?

Answer
The time to take it off would have been when it was the size of an egg. Now it's going to be a bigger issue to get it off, but because it is bleeding etc it is time to have it looked at. Benign tumors can change and they can also just rot and start to bleed.

It may still not be painful but the bleeding is a worry. Get him into the vet soon.
