Question
My husband and I are currently living in Korea as we are on military orders.  In October 04 we bought a 6 week old kitten.  We got her from a great little pet shop that also has a veternarian.  I have heard that Korea has really great veternarian care.  We have been told that she is Persian.  She looks that way except for the fact that she doesn't have the really flat smooshed in nose.  We inquired about that and were told that in Korea they breed them to have a little bit longer nose, as they don't like the smooshed face.  It doesn't really matter to us what breed she is because we absolutly love her, but we are just curious.  Would you be able to help me with this?  Also her eyes water a lot and she has had problems with ear mites since she was young.  She is about 6 1/2 months old now.

Answer
Hello there!

TRUE persians of the victorian era had noses! :)  We bred them to look like with smashed their face in like a brick ( I have a himi at work with an extrememe short face).

Most to all persians have eye problems. This is due to the flatened face and the lacrimal ducts are mishapened due to it.

Ear mites? Get a product from your vet called Revolution, and clean those ears weekly!
