mini schnauzer

Question
My mini schnauzer is about 8 years old, he's behind on his vaccinations but he is overall a healthy, happy dog.  Last summer he had some hot spots that have since been cleared up.  Within the last couple of months, I've noticed a growth growing on his chest.  The size is a little bigger that a ping pong ball, its solid and I can't push it around.  I'm very concerned and scared to find out what it is.  Is there any way it could be somethhing minor and not what I fear the most?

Answer
Well a ping-pong ball on a mini schnauzer is very large,so you need to get him into the vets and have it looked at.

The chances are it's only a lipoma, or a fatty tumor. He is the right age to get one and they are very common. They are not a 'cancer' per se but they will grow larger and larger.

One way or the other, call the vet and make an appointment. Worrying about it instead of doing something about it is not going to help your little doggie, so take him in and you will sleep better! :-)
