Question
Hi

A week ago our cat developed sickness, dairrohea for 3 days. As the week went on he got dull and was flat and just wasn't settled.

We took him to the vet and some tests were done, they found his urine count was 9 when it should be between 20 and 30 or something.

He also had blood tests as well. The results of his blood test were normal which was a relief.

The vet reckons its a urinary tract infection this being the case he was given an injection and some antibiotics.

The problem is even though his test results were clear he his drinking and eating alot more than normal and has only gone to his tray 2 urinate and has not released any kind of faeces or anything.

It has been 4-5days since he last passed a faeces.

My question is, do you have any idea what could be going on with him at present?

He is a bluey grey point persian of 8 years of age.

Hope you can help

Answer
Hi Richard! If you are absolutely certain that your cat has not defecated in 4-5 days, I think a return trip to your vet would be beneficial. He may be constipated, but your veterinarian may want to do an x-ray to be sure there is nothing else going on.  Since he is not vomiting, I wouldn't think that there would be a major blockage of any sort, but this is definitely a bit too long for no bowel movement to be processed, especially since his is eating more.
Please let me know how he does and I wish I could be of more help,
Hilary
