my friends shi-chi is 7 months old and a male shi-poo mated with her and they think she mite be on the verg of being pregnant.hits only been 5 or 6 days since it happened.but they want to know what to do.only 2 of her breasts(the ones nearest to her vagina)are really swollen.and they heard that there are alot of complications that smaller dogs have when having puppies and when its thier first heat and first pregnancy.so what can they do?and what if they have the puppies at home?what can they do to help momma from dying in the process?

Please have her spayed right away. In this time of foreclosures, many people are pulling up to shelters with U-hauls, having to give up their cherished pets because the rental they are moving to will not take pets or they can no longer afford to feed the animals. Only people who have purebreds and are using holistic approaches to really improve the health of animals and who knows what they are doing should breed puppies.  Pregnant or not, she can be spayed right now.
