dog sporicytes and feces eating

Question
Recently in biology we discussed a situation where moose and elk could be 'fooled' into eating feces by a parasite that ejects chemicals that would normally stop elk from eating its own feces.  My dog does this and I've read the behavioral answers.  I just wonder if I should be concerned about my dog having a parasite causing this?

Hello - They still don't know why dogs eat poop... There are many people who think they know.... But, nothing has been proven yet.
I seem to feel they may be missing something in the diet/foods they are eating..Just a guess on my part.
