dog refuses to eat

Question
my 7 yr old Chihuahua had a dental done last Fri with 4 extractions of small teeth. she ate that afternoon, but has refused to eat since then. she does drink water, but unless I force feed her...nothing. took her to vet today (Thurs.) she has lost 1.2 lbs in 6 days. the gave her pepcid shot, antiemetic shot, and sq iv fluids. I have tried everything I can think of...rice, bananas, mashed potatoes, toast, bread, scrambled eggs, oatmeal...all of which she would normally gobble up. there appears to me no physical reason for this dog to refuse to eat. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer
Did they give her anything for pain?  The teeth extractions have left her with discomfort.  How about getting some Pedilyte into her by syringe or in her water dish.
Also, buy some canned pumpkin ( pure pumpkin) - good calories and fiber.  Give her 2-3 teaspoons per day.

Ask your vet if you can at least give a baby aspirin?  Something to reduce the inflammation...

Be very careful next time you have the teeth done...????  You may not want to do the ultrasonic tooth procedure again.

Let me know if you can get the pumpkin into her?
