My cat is limping

Question
For the last couple of days it has been difficut to find my 8 year old male cat around the house, which is a bit unusual, but he has been hanging out with me all day today.  He is limping around and he won't let me touch his back right leg so I can't tell if it is broken.  He does put a little bit of pressure on it when needed and he can jump onto the couch and bed.  He will still swat at a little yarn dangling over his head, but he will give a little moan if he is shifting around into different sitting positions.  I'm not a person who runs to the vet every time something happens so I'd appreciate a doctor's opinion.  Should I take him in to see our vet on Monday or wait it out to see if it takes care of itself?

Answer
Yes I would recommend taking him to the vet--limping in cats is not that common.  He may have torn a knee ligament or have something wrong with his hip...if broken, he would be in A LOT of pain.  At minimum your vet can examine him and give him some pain medication.  If necessary, an x-ray can also be taken at that time.
