cat not eating or drinking

QUESTION: Several days ago my cat stopped eating and drinking. She had stopped prior but I had gotten her to eat some chicken and drink, but now she has stopped. What can I do?

ANSWER: You need to call a vet first thing in the morning Rosemary. This is a very serious thing when a cat doesn't eat for over three days. Get some water into her tonight if you can with an eyedropper or whatever it takes to get some in her for dehydration.

That is about all you can do in the meantime. You might try some tuna too, since it is very strong smelling and she might try it. But if not, then she is very ill.

This is a sign that something is very, very wrong with her. Don't even stop go, call at 8 am and get her in right away!!
Please don't wait.


I hope she will be okay- please let me know what happens to her.

QUESTION: Just wanted to let you know that Izzy had FIP and had to be put to sleep. It was the hardest thing I had to do, but as the vet advised it is not curable.

Awww Rosemary, I am really sorry to hear that. It isn't curable and it's a terrible disease and one that spreads easily. I lost a cat to that also so I know how painful that was for you.
You gave her a gift Rosemary. You gave her the gift of not suffering. We cannot even do that for each other. She is grateful to you for that.
We are left to grieve and feel the pain of their loss, but you did the best thing for her and that will help down the road with the pain.
