Rabbit to the Vet?

Question
Greetings!

We live in Southern Ohio. Our cat just brought in a baby cottontail, and while it appears to be mostly okay (a few bite marks), it won't put any weight on it's front right paw. It keeps it crossed across it's chest, so the paw is touching the left shoulder. It's eyes are also secreting a watery, somewhat cloudy....stuff. Before we try to put it back near it's nest, we were wondering if we should take it to the vet, or just let that leg go.

Thanks,
Amanda

Answer
The biggest problem this rabbit will face is the massive infections it is now growing from the cat bites. Cats have really nasty bacteria in their mouths and anything that gets bit by them needs antibiotics.

So if you feel the bunny will live, then I would head to the vet's soon. If the leg isn't broken then it will need the antibiotics for a few days, then you can release it.

I hope your vet knows how to treat rabbits.
Let me know how he/she does.
