Question
hello, my 9 year old tuxedo tabby cat is not well. a little over a month ago we noticed a limp in one of her back legs, she would walk flat on her foot instead of on her toes like they normally do, she was always a bit overweight but that never stopped her from being very active and jumping everywhere. not she cannot even jump onto the couch, i need to lift her, and my bed, she used to pull herself onto it but now its hopeless, and she jumps off still which i can't imagine feels very good. she is not eating, i refill a little tiny catfood dish maybe once a week, and water her just as often, she has lost probably 5 or 6 pounds in the last 6 weeks. i havent taken her to a vet because to be honest i cant afford the bills but i dont know what else to do for her, i cant even afford to put her down if thats what needed to be done. i notice when i pick her up sometims if i craddle her the wrong way she gets very angry, growls and hisses and bites or scratches me, i guess im touching a tender spot, she never ever used to bit or hiss at me.

do you have any suggestions?

Trevor -

You should have your kitty examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. The symptoms you describe sound vey serious and can be associated with a number of diseases.  These symptoms usually will not go away without the help of a veterinary professional. The doctor may recommend bloodwork or radiographs or both.  Often the cost is much less than you would think.  Most vets are willing to wokr within their clients' budgets to ensure the pet is made comfortable.   Unfortunately, I cannot give you a diagnosis of what is wrong with your cat without the benefit of a physical exam.
