puppys red eye

We got a 6 week old puppy 6 days ago.  The previous owner got soap in is eye giving him a bath.  It was red the first day.  Now the corner of it is swollen and red.  Not sure if it is the tear duct or what.  What can we do to help hit get better.

He could have a "Cherry eye" or it could be a swollen tear duct. A cherry eye is when the third eyelid gland prolapses. Most of the time this is going to require surgery to fix it.  

If it is just red and irritated then give it a few days or get some eye drops that wash the eye and use it twice a day to help calm the eye down.

Otherwise you need to get him to a vet and have it looked at so it doesn't get worse.
