Dog having trouble breathing

Question
Hi Ellen, It started about a month ago, our dachshund was having trouble breathing, very tired, no energy, and was whining and moaning often, but she was eating, drinking and fine on her walks.  We took her to a Vet (not our normal Vet) and they diagnosed her with congested lungs and a bladder infection.  They gave us an antibiotic and some pain meds.  We gave her the meds for a week and she didn't seem much better so we took her back in and they took an x-ray.  They were concerned about her back and said this may be causing pain which is causing her to breathe funny, so he gave us a stronger dose of pain meds and said check back in a week.  If this works then we know it is her back.  We waited a day and she was not better at all so we took her to an emergency Vet who noticed some bumps or welts on her sides and said it may be an allergic reaction to something and gave her an injection of an antihistamine .  The vet told us we should be able to tell a difference within a couple of hours and said if the dog was not better to bring her back.  It was at night and the dog seemed a little better so we went to bed.  The next morning around five I woke up to my dog still having trouble breathing so we brought her back to the emergency.  We did notice the welts went down a little.  The emergency Vet suggested we give her another injection and some pills for allergies and then take her to our regular Vet for a full blood panel.  We took the dog in to a third Vet (differnt from the first one. our normal Vet)that afternoon and the Vet said it sounds like a bladder infection.  They did another Urine sample directly from the bladder and a sonogram and also took blood.  The next morning the vet called us and said the dogs urine is fine and the blood work came back fine and suggested we give it more time.  It will be a week tomorrow and my dog is still struggling to breathe.  we have another appointment today, but I am getting a little frustrated and feeling helpless.  Please help.  Thank you for listening.  Jason

Answer
Has no one discussed asthma or bronchitis in your dog?

Tell your dr, that you want the lungs addressed. Perhaps some steriods are in order. Is there fluid in the lungs. etc...

Dont let them run you through the loop again. Get to the bottom of this. Tell them you want her breathing addressed NOW.
