bowel movements

My cat is 13 year old siamese.  We recently changed her diet.  And she has been doing "number 2" where ever she sees fit.  We changed from dry to canned.  Is this the problem?  She never used to do this.  She is a older cat so, I thought to give her softer food because of her older teeth.  Was I wrong?

A dramatic change in diet can lead to this problem, theres no reason to change unless her teeth are falling out and its directed by a vet they do make dry food for senior cats, and is available at any local grocery store.  For example Purina makes senior dry cat food.
