Eye and ear problem

Question
Hi Dr Sherrell,
I have a 5 year old pembroke corgi, yesterday I noticed her left eye had some
fluid draining from it and when I went to wipe it off her face, she did not try
to close her eye, this morning the eye will not blink when I move my finger
very close to her eye, but does blink in the right eye when I do the same thig.
Also noticed that she can not keep her left ear upright when she runs. The
right ear is rigid and does not move when she runs but the left ear will almost
lay flat to her head and then goes about 80% upright, makes a flopping
motion as she runs. The left ear is a bit forward when she stands. Her head is
not tilted and seems level when she walks, sits and stands. Otherwise she is
normal, eating, drinking, active and seems happy.

Answer
Tom -

I think you should have your dog examined by a veterinarian.  I cannot make a diagnosis without the benefit of actually seeing and examining your dog.  The symptoms your describe sound as if there may be a neurological problem - check it out with your vet as soon as you can.
