Question
My dog has lost seven claws in the past two weeks. Someone suggested he might have a claw fungus? One claw is very sore and doen't have a new nail formed , it hasn't gotten any better in a week. I have been soaking it in Hisbatane? something the vet gave me.
No one seems to know why he is losing these claws

Answer
Claw diseases can be very difficult to deal with.  Sometimes it is a MAlassezia (fungus) infection, sometimes it is bacterial, sometimes it is demodex mange, and sometimes it is vasculitis.  What we normally do is to remove an infected claw and digit and send it to a pathologist for analysis. Then we can treat specifically.
