can I get sick from letting my cat lick my food

18 15:14:27

Question
I know this must sound so silly BUT I recently read that a cat owner shouldn't even wash their cat's bowl with the same sponge used on human dishes.  With that sain, ther ARE times when I let my kitty Blue take a lick from my ceriel bowl and sometimes use the same bowls *after washing of course* that I put his food in.  So then am I risking my health?
thanks for your expertise!

Answer
Anything you wash with hot water and throw some diluted bleach into will be fine. I use separate dishes that the cats eat some wet food from every morning and I wash them but I don't eat off them.
So get some separate bowls for daily feeding but an occasional lick and wash job won't hurt you unless you are immuno-compromised.

Then you should be careful and use lots of bleach or don't let them lick your plates. The bottom line is the bacteria in their mouths is not going to survive any bleach or good dish soap.
