Question
My lab is getting old and stiff. my vet doesn't know which type of (not dog pain killers/anti-inflamitory; but the vitimin type) pills to recommend because their are so many. Do you have any suggestions? (ex. Pawws, K9 maxx, Cosequin)
          Thank you for your time.

Answer
You want a product with Glucosamine and MSM in it.  You can give a human product or one specifically labeled for dogs.  I would recommend giving your dog 1500 mg of Glucosamine twice a day (with some Chondroitin is good too) and MSM 1000 mg twice a day.   Usually it takes 4-8 weeks to notice a difference.  I am not familiar with all the brands out there but from what I remember Cosequin does NOT have MSM in it.  We exclusively use Synovi G3 Soft Chews by DVM where I work.   I have a few clients who give Glycoflex III and some who use GNC's Triflex.
