Question
I took my 9 year old cat to the vet because I was going on vacation. I came back a week later and he had lost a lot of weight. He doesn't eat a lot and he doesn't drink a lot. I have to carry him to the kitty box. What is wrong with my kitty?

Answer
Meagan -

That is exactly what you should be asking your veterinarian.  If your cat was fine before you went on vacation and not doing well when you returned, there is the possibility that he was grieving when you were gone.

Please inform the doctor that your cat is not doing well.  A geriatric cat's heath can deteriorate quickly if his medical needs are not met in a timely fashion.  Do not wait to see if the cat will get better; have him evaluated by your vet immediately.

Unfortunately,  I cannot tell you what is wrong with your cat without first examining him.  Your veterinarian should be able to provide you with treatment options to  help improve his health.
