4 month old Chihuahua-male

Tanner is 4 months old. He is doing great with potty training for the most part,except he has a bowel movement outside but finishes it inside. I have sprayed the stuff that says it will keep keeps from eliminating in the area but it doesn't work. I an at my wits end. HELP.

Don't bring him into the house until he finishes and give him a little piece of his dog food that you have already in your pocket when you take him outside. He will soon associate finishing outside with his treat and you should have less accidents. He is very young still, so give him a break and be nice to him when he doesn't get it.

But always reinforce the good behavior and do not punish the bad as he will be confused. Make sure you take some nuggets of his dry food with you outside. Don't use treats, they only make them fat and are terrible for their teeth.

He will get it soon enough but you must give him the time he needs. Give him a piece of food right after the first bm and again after the second one and tell him what a good dog he is in a really high pitched voice. They really like that and they listen to it.
