Question
i have recently rescued a 3-4 week old puppy.  Mom was hit by a car and I took one in.  I have been doing fine with feeding her till today.  She wont eat at all today.  I think her teeth are in a little but i am not sure how much before I feed her solid food, moistened???  I got what I know off a website but I really would like more concrete do's and dont's so I can make this puppy a permanent part of our family.

thanks for any help you can give me.

Answer
Hi Jess, Great - I am sure you are doing a good job with the puppy -
Give her some wet food - Buy some Wellness Formula, Innova Puppy, or Solid Gold Puppy wet ( canned ) food.
YOU can find them at a pet store.  Also, get a bag of dry food such as the brands I mentioned.

Take the dry food and wet it with some formula or water - let it sit for 10 minutes so it gets softer.  Put about 3 tablespoons of dry food to 2 tablespoons of water -  After 10 minutes, you should be able to feed it to her.
YOU can also add a few teaspoons of wet food to the dry food.
YOU should be feeding 4 x per day-
At about 8 weeks old you can feed 3 x per day...
After 6 months to 8 months you can feed just 2 x per day.

Make sure she is getting water.  If she doesn't eat some of the meals, that is ok.... Just make sure she is always drinking.

She is going to need to see a vet for some shots - Also, you may want to spay her at about 6 months old.

Good Luck
