black spots behind my dogs ear

Hello I was scratching right behind my dogs ears and felt little "crusty" bumps.  He is a lite haired pit, but when I moved his hair I could see these little black something.  I almost looked like dried bloodlike he had scratched himself, but there is more than one.  What could it be?

Sounds like some sort of parasite like fleas, stick tight fleas, or even ticks. It could also be dried blood from a flea as their feces consist of dried blood since that is what they eat.

You should get closer to them and look at it. If it fleas then you need to start a flea program that kills adults, makes the larvae and eggs not hatch.
I have all my pets on Sentinel for heartworms and fleas and they have no fleas and no heartworms. One easy pill every month.
I also recommend Ovitrol flea spray to spot spray areas like what you found on your dog. It is an IGR, or insect growth regulator, and does the above.
