Question
My 14 yr old toy poodle is suffering from arthritis pain.  Is it alright to give him baby asprin and will that help as much or anywhere near as much as the expensive treatmenst you put in their water?  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Aspirin of any type is very hard on a dogs stomach. Just one aspirin will erode the first lining of the stomach by about two-three cells thick. That is a lot actually.

It also thins the blood which isn't always a good thing for elderly dogs.
The pain medications you get from your vet are made and designed to prevent stomach problems and erosion's. I use Duramaxx on my dog now and then and it works great. She has no problems from it.
There are many medications on the market now at the vets, so be sure and ask them and follow their recommendations.
