drooling cat

Question
One of my cats drools when he purrs, which makes most people want to stop petting him since he gets quite a flow going and then shakes his head.  His teeth are fine (we brush them 1/month, and the vet cleans them 1/year, said they were in great shape).  Is there anything that can be done to control this?  I feel bad that he's obviously loving the pets but then loses them because he starts drooling.

Answer
Drooling is just an emotional response to the pleasure he is feeling. I know a lot of people don't like it, but it is just the way he is. My daughter's cat is exactly the same way and I have had many cats that do this and many that don't. She shakes her head and covers me with it sometimes. Yes, yuk. I still love her anyway.

Just hand them a hand towel when they start to pet him. :-)

Be happy he is an "expressive" cat and not a mean one.
