hello I have a very serious ? for you. My dog 3yrs old female was found dead in her dog house this morning. Lasrt night she was walking funny favoring her hind legs like they were stiff. I felt them she didin't seem to be in pain. But as the night progressed she become nathargic . When I went to check on her two hrs later she was dead. There was a different bowl in the yard than normal and in it was what seememd to be water but it wasn't frozen? The weather is 20 degree's. I put a bowl of the same size beside it filled it with water and within 3 hrs the bowl was frozen but this one isn't yet. How do I tell if this bowl has poison in it like anti freeze. The susbstance in the bowl is clear but a little cloudy.
Answer -
You would have to have someone that runs a toxicology lab test the water.  She may have been poisoned or she could of had underlying heart disease and died suddenly from a failing heart.  If her belly was at all bloated, she most likely died from a stomach torsion.


Re: I had two dobe's and they both died mysteriously 1 week apart. They both went into convultions and urinated on them self before dieing.

It is really hard to say without an autopsy.  Antifreeze causes acute kidney failure and can also cause neurological problems.   There are a lot of other potential poisons that can also cause seizures....chocolate, coffee, moldy foods, green potatoes, china berry, nux vomica, coriaria, water hemlock, moon weed, toads....to name a few.
