Question
QUESTION: i recently got a boxer pup purebred and i seen her brothers and sisters after i got her and she is only about half or a 1/4 of thier size! no joking and she is also in my opinion a little on the skinny side but she came with a clean bill of health from the vet she looks like she isnt as old as the other pups is this normal?

ANSWER: You got the runt of the litter. No it's not normal but having a runt is at times. These pups usually catch up later on with growth etc but they can have some issues. When you saw her brothers and sisters, was it when you bought her?

Make sure she gets wormed regularly and that will help with her growth. Also, get her on Science Diet Large breed Puppy Growth and she will grow really strong and healthy on that. Don't skimp on food for her and buy her garbage food from the store.

Only Science Diet has the balance of nutrients that she will need because she is at a disadvantage right now. Trust me on this one.
Do not free feed her either, but feed her three times a day for her weight on the bag. Add about 1/4 cup extra to the feeding amount to feed what she should weigh and that will help her growth. Make sure it is LARGE BREED puppy Growth because even though she is a runt, Boxers are considered large breed dogs. This food will help prevent some of the bone and growth issues that Large breeds have.

And it seems that our clients Boxers that are raised and kept on Science Diet have less incidences of tumors later in life.

Switch her slowly to this food over 7 days by following what the bag says.

Make sure she is on heartworm prevention, vaccinated regularly and she will be one gorgeous dog by one year of age.
Have fun with her!!

QUESTION: does it have to be science diet that has a  lot of corn in it.

Answer
There is nothing wrong with corn. It is the lowest of all allergens in dogs and most foods have it. It is not the kind of corn you and I eat, it is field corn that is cooked to be completely digestible and is a high protein food.

Don't believe all the hype you read about corn. I have fed and watched my clients feed SD for over 28 yrs and NONE of these dogs had allergy issues. NONE.

Another thing about Science Diet that most consumers don't know is that is just about the last food on the market that has a fixed formulation and is trial fed and tested. What does that mean to you and your dog?

It means that unlike Iams, Nutro and other store brands, Science Diet sticks to the same formulation for ingredients for every batch and bag. Most foods are now open formulation (now including Iams which used to be fixed) which means that they can buy whatever is cheapest on the docks that day and still meet the AAFCO guidelines. How does that food work? They don't know because they FORMULATE it to meet the guidelines, but that doesn't mean that it will sustain your dog over the long haul. They have never fed it to dogs and tested its viability for each life stage.

Science Diet has over 50 yrs of veterinary research behind it and is a fixed formulation food- which means it has been field fed and tested for that long and that the formula doesn't change from batch to batch like all non-fixed formulated food does. Science Diet is the only food left that manufacturers this way and has true life stage formulas for pets. It is also the forerunner that ran a five year study on the effects of calcium/phosphorus on the growth of large breeds. Hills Science Diet was the first company to create wellness foods and the first to create a large breed formula.

So give the food a try. It has a 100% money back guarantee that says if after feeding this food for the whole bag, you don't see any difference, then you can get your money back 100%. Every store that sells SD will back this because Hill's backs it for the store.
You have nothing to lose and your new puppy has everything and a life time of health to gain.
