Question
My 11 year old Sheltie is being treated by vet for infection of mouth (some teeth will have to be removed) and renal failure (blood work shows elivated levels of something, I forgot what).  What also is happening and unaddressed by Vet is my dog has not been able to eat for days.  Last night, he had a very small amount, but immediately vomited.  What other things should I have tested?

Answer
Hi Tim!

it could be the teeth causin the problem or the kidney issues. call your vet and let him know he is unable to keep food down.

they may want to do iv fluids on your dog for a day or 2 before the procedure. also ask for pain medication and see if they are going to put him on antibiotics first.

if he is on antibiotics, some of them will cause vomiting and diarrhea.
