Question
I noticed some irritation on Fifi's behind. Next to wear he goes poop on the left and right side are two white bumps. I thought they might be hemorides, but I have never seen any blood. Tonight I saw the weirdest thing. I was cleaning her behind and trying to put some cream on to make her more comfortable. When what looked like a little string of poop came out of the little white, protuding pink whole next to the rectum hole. That freaked me out because I thought the poop only comes out of the main hole on their butt. I am not sure what this little hole is and what came out of it. It looked just like poop, but more stringy like spagetti. I let her go and she stopped. When I clean the litter box I have never seen any sort of poop like that. I am totally freaking out right now, so any info and help u can give me would be wonderful. Fifi never has had any health problems, but I am thinking this is something major. Please write me ASAP.

Answer
Abi, this sounds like anal glands. Small scent glands located on both sides of the rectum.  When the animal defecates, the glands slowly release themselves with the feces so you never see it.  Cats usually don't have a problem with them, but sometimes it can happen, especially if they are overweight.  You need to take him to a Vet to have them expressed and determine if they have become infected. This is treatable and not very serious.  If left untreated it can become more serious.
